What is a good protocol when I am on vacation? I won’t have a scale. We will be choosing restaurants spontaneously, so my only plan is to say no to bread and pasta and follow my daughter’s example since she has much less of a sweet tooth than her parents! I will also share an entree to reduce portion size.

I love this question. What is your main focus of your vacation? Is it connection? Is it exploration? Obviously there are lots of reasons, I want you to be clear on what you want to get out of it- this is getting results and expectations clear beforehand. When you are focused on what you really want, this will be a guiding star to help your actions to be aligned with what you really want.

One of my favourite things to do on vacation is to give myself permission ahead of time to have one ‘joy eat’ a day. I don’t feel guilty eating it and really enjoy it. There is no stress spike.

I also encourage you to schedule a 1-1 personal 10 min thought download/thinking time where you check in with yourself to see how you are doing with your vacation goals. Stay on top of what is going on and so you are always learning from yourself.
